Öz
Osmanlı düşünce tarihinin ele alındığı kayıtlar arasında Rıza Tevfik’in yazıları önemli yer tutar. Rıza Tevfik, felsefe, tarih, edebiyat, eğitim ve bürokrasinin de dahil olduğu pek çok alanla meşgul olmuş, Osmanlı döneminde felsefenin ilk kurucularından sayılmıştır. Felsefi problemleri ortaya koyuş biçimi, yorumlaması ve kendine has üslubuyla döneminde iz bırakmıştır. Bu alanda belli bir sistem oluşturamamış bile olsa felsefeyi sevdirmeye çalışmış, orta öğretim programlarına felsefeyi ders olarak koydurmayı başarmıştır. Rıza Tevfik, modern Türk tarihinin ilk felsefe ders kitabını yazmış ve hem lisede hem de Darülfünunda felsefe okutmuştur. Tarih felsefesi ile de ilgilenen düşünür, tarihî kayıtların tutulmasındaki ilkelere işaret ederken, Osmanlı dönemi eserlerini de kesin bir dille eleştirmekten çekinmemiştir. Bu araştırmada, Rıza Tevfik’in tarih felsefesi üzerine görüşlerini ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla, düşünürün Musavver Muhit Dergisinde “Tarih ve Felsefe-i Tarih Hakkında” başlıklı makalesi analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilecek sonuçların tarihçilik, tarih felsefesi alanı ve tarih öğretimine katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Rıza Tevfik’s Philosophical Understanding and His Approaches to the Philosophy of History
Abstract
Rıza Tevfik’s writings have an important place among the records dealing with the history of Ottoman thought. Rıza Tevfik was engaged in many fields including philosophy, history, literature, education and bureaucracy and was considered one of the first founders of philosophy in the Ottoman period. With the way he presented philosophical problems, his interpretation and his unique style he left a mark in his period. Even though he could not create a certain system in this field, he tried to popularize philosophy and succeeded in putting philosophy as a course in secondary education programs. Rıza Tevfik wrote the first philosophy textbook in modern Turkish history and taught philosophy both in high school and in Darülfünun (university). The thinker, who is also interested in the philosophy of history, did not hesitate to criticize the works of the Ottoman period, while pointing out the principles of keeping historical records. In this research, Rıza Tevfik’s views on philosophy of history were tried to be revealed. For this purpose, the thinker’s article titled “About History and Philosophy of History” in the journal Musavver Muhit was analyzed. It is thought that the results to be obtained from the research will contribute to the field
of historiography, philosophy of history and history teaching.
