Öz

Medeniyetlerin oluşumunda önemli yere sahip olan ilk yerleşim yerlerini ele alan çalışmalar, şehirlerin kökenlerine dair çeşitli teoriler ortaya koymuştur. Bu teoriler, insanların bir araya gelerek birlikte yaşama kültürü edinmelerini genellikle maddi ihtiyaçlara bağlamaktadır. Esasen şehir, her şeyden önce birbiriyle savaşmayacak ve birbirlerine güvenerek manevi bir birlik oluşturabilecek insanların bir araya gelerek oluşturduğu bir ortak yaşam birimidir. Birlikte yaşayabilme olgusunu güven unsurunu ele almadan açıklamak eksik bir yaklaşım olacaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, şehirlerin oluşmasında temel unsurlardan biri olan ancak sürekli olarak ikincil planda bırakılan güven duygusu ile bu duyguyu oluşturan dini motiflerin önemini ortaya koymaktır. Bu maksatla, bir güven unsuru olarak dini inançların şehirlerin oluşumundaki yerlerine temas edilmiş ve dünyadaki ilk uygarlıklardan örnekler verilerek bu iddia temellendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.

The Role of Religious Beliefs as a Trust Element in the Origin of Cities Abstract

Studies on the first settlements, which had an important place in the formation of civilizations, have revealed various theories about the origins of cities. These theories generally attribute people’s coming together and acquiring a culture of living together to material needs. Essentially, the city is a common living unit formed by people who will not fight and can trust each other thus form a spiritual unity. Explaining the phenomenon of coexistence without addressing the element of trust would be an incomplete approach. The aim of this study is to put forward the importance of the feeling of trust, which is one of the basic elements in the formation of cities but is constantly left in the background, and the religious motifs that form this feeling. For this purpose, the place of religious beliefs in the formation of cities as an element of trust has been touched upon and this claim has been tried to be justified by giving examples from the first civilizations in the world.
